This course is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required for grassroots organizing. By exploring key principles, tactics, and case studies, participants will learn how to mobilize communities, advocate for systemic change, and create sustainable movements that address social, economic, and political issues.

Empowering Communities: A Grassroots Organizing Approach is an 8-week program (Weekly 2-hour sessions) during which the student learns about how to advocate for social change

Target Audience: Aspiring community organizers, activists, nonprofit leaders, and volunteers interested in building power from the ground up to advocate for social change.

Week-by-Week Breakdown:

Week 1: Introduction to Grassroots Organizing

Week 2: Building Relationships and Trust in Communities

Week 3: Identifying and Defining Issues

Week 4: Mobilizing and Recruiting Volunteers

Week 5: Power Mapping and Strategy Development

Week 6: Organizing Campaigns and Direct Action

Week 7: Media, Messaging, and Storytelling

Week 8: Sustainability, Fundraising, and Long-Term Impact

 

Evaluation: Participants will be evaluated based on their engagement with course materials, participation in group discussions, and their ability to apply organizing strategies through practical assignments and the final project.
